4 Essential Tips For Hydrated Winter Skincare Routine
Moisture
As you may know, moisture is crucial and highly needed in keeping your skin radiant. An easy way to incorporate moisture into your winter skincare routine is through the products you use daily.
Body Care
Body butter, body creams, hydrating facial oils, and body oil are great ways to lock in moisture. The best time to apply these products is when the skin is still damp.
For extremely cold days, thicker moisturizing body oils and body butter are recommended to maintain soft and hydrated skin. When exfoliating in the colder, drier months is recommended to be cut down to once or twice a week.
Makeup
A few makeup products that cater to keeping the skin moisturized are oil-based foundations for drier skin, waterproof mascara, lip balm, and moisturizing hand creams that should be kept for reapplication throughout the day.
Facial steamers help to open your pores for a deeper cleanse and assist your skin in the absorption of the products used on your skin. Using gentler, mild cleansers in your winter skincare routine can help to prevent the skin from being stripped of its natural oils.
Have a Skin Care Routine
Creating routines allows us to tend to different parts of ourselves regularly. Having a skincare routine is crucial in keeping your skin clean and healthy daily. Create a routine that caters to your skin, and stick to it.
A great way to find out what products work great for your skin is to research your skin by its type: oily and/or acne-prone skin, dry skin, or combination skin.
A simple routine consists of a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.
From experience with oily skin, gel-based cleansers, cutting down on inflammatory foods, and fewer products used on my skin works really well for me. I follow a more simple routine for oily skin consisting of a gel cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.
Protect Your Skin
Protecting your skin from harsh weather conditions through proper clothing is another must when achieving healthy skin. Gloves, scarves and other clothing garments for skin protection are key. Be sure to include sunscreen in your winter skincare routine!
Satin pillowcases and hair accessories help to maintain the moisture in one’s skin and hair by allowing for moisture retention.
Diet
Drinking lots of water and eating the right foods is another must-have for healthy, dewy skin.
Diversifying your food palates with leafy greens, and other fruits and vegetables is important because these foods contain immense nutrients that help in the renewal and repair of the skin, while protecting the skin from free radical damage.
Fruits and vegetables have their own powerful purposes in giving your skin what it needs to thrive, so be sure to include them.
Reduce Stress
It’s no surprise that consistent stress and stressors can cause breakouts and dull skin. Our bodies tend to be in a place of consistent stress.
Take the time to meditate and be still. Practice breathing exercises that will aid in the relaxation of the body. Another tip is to reduce your stressors where you can and replace them with things that make you feel happy and relaxed.
Our skin can endure a lot daily, sometimes with circumstances beyond our control.
It’s up to us to take care of our skin.
You already have such beautiful skin. All you need to do is take care of it and it will take care of you.
